Dr. Chris Iwuchukwu is board-certified by the American Boardof Radiology (ABR) in both diagnostic and interventional radiology, with abroad interest in minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures. Hemaintains professional membership with Society of Interventional Radiology(SIR), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and American College ofRadiology (ACR).

Born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa, Dr. Iwuchukwurelocated to the United States in 2004. He subsequently obtained his bachelor’sdegree in chemistry from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) andcompleted his medical training at the University of California Irvine School ofMedicine (UCISOM). During his first postgraduate year, he spent time at theUniversity of California Irvine Medical Center, where he completed hisinternship in general surgery. Subsequently, he completed his diagnostic radiologytraining at the County of Los Angeles, Harbor UCLA Medical Center beforecompleting a 2-year Interventional Radiology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic inPhoenix AZ.

At the conclusion of his fellowship in Mayo Clinic Phoenix,Dr. Iwuchukwu decided to remain in Phoenix and establish his practice ininterventional radiology. He joined a local practice and during which time hispractice encompassed a diverse range of interventional radiology servicesincluding acute care and trauma.

In addition to providing high-quality minimally invasivecare that enhances the quality of life for his patients, Dr. Iwuchukwu ispassionate about global medicine. As an immigrant who grew up in Nigeria, he isacutely aware of the need for highly specialized, quality care in regions withlimited resources and specialists. Interventional Radiology, with its minimallyinvasive approach to alleviating pain and disease, and improving quality oflife, has an even broader and more positive impact in areas with scarceresources. To this end, he has collaborated with groups like “Road to IR” onmission trips to Nigeria. He also continues to work with doctors who arededicated to expanding the reach and availability of interventional Radiologyin Nigeria, including the Nigerian Society of Interventional Radiology. Hiswork encompasses direct care, volunteer time and resources for patients, andtraining support for Radiology trainees interested in Interventional Radiology.

In his personal life, he is a husband and father to threebeautiful children. His hobbies include attending sporting events, listeningand attending music events, and traveling. More importantly, he cherishesspending quality time with his family and creating lasting memories.
